“There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.” —John Green

About

Laurina is a poet, licensed therapist, speaker, and anti-trafficking advocate whose life and work are shaped by the redemptive power of words. As a survivor of human trafficking—specifically domestic servitude—and an orphan, Laurina knows firsthand the depths of pain and the resilience required to overcome it. Her journey through suffering has birthed a deep compassion for others and a calling to bring healing where it’s most needed.

Guided by faith, Laurina became a therapist, believing it is a purpose the Lord placed on her heart to walk alongside the hurting. Her writing is raw, deeply honest, and infused with a persistent thread of hope. Whether through poetry or public speaking, Laurina uses her voice to name pain and point toward restoration.

Laurina's advocacy began during her time at Texas A&M University and continued with her leadership as a Youth Advisory Board Director and mentor for teen survivors for the Texas Coastal Bend Border Region Task Force in Corpus Christi. Today, she continues her mission as a board member for The Landing in Houston, TX, raising awareness about the many forms of human trafficking and its lasting impact.

Laurina believes that words—whether written or spoken—carry the power to heal, and she continues to use hers to shine light into dark places, tell the truth about trauma, and share the enduring possibility of hope.

When she is not writing, Laurina enjoys spontaneous adventures, getting lost between the pages of a new book, pretending to be good at painting, going on nature walks with her dog, Arlo, and tasting new foods in different parts of the world.
